When video games were still in their infancy, children of the 1970s and 1980s had to come up with other entertainment options. Arthur chose writing. Arthur's third grade teacher read Roald Dahl's "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" to the class and then asked the students to write a one-page sequel to the book. Arthur wrote more than 10 pages, and it was then that Arthur knew he would be a writer. Arthur's first book deals with his real-life struggle with himself, his brothers, his parents, and a girl-like apparition that he awakened in a dream.
Arthur grew up in Austin, Texas, on Ben Howell Drive - a relatively small neighborhood compared to others nearby. Ben Howell Drive provided Arthur with enough friends and memories to last several lifetimes. As the youngest of four boys, Arthur was the lowest in the pecking order, often bullied by his two oldest brothers. To make matters worse, he was a lanky lad with a severe stutter; even the simplest word could cause Arthur's face to sweat and turn beet red.
According to the older neighborhood children, long before Arthur's family moved to Ben Howell Drive, a family died in a fire in the house next to Arthur's, and the children claimed that the family's ghosts still reside in the now empty lot. Wanting to authenticate the truth of the tale, Arthur challenged the ghosts to appear, and soon a ghost Arthur named Candle Face began to haunt him in his dreams (if they were dreams). For years, Arthur questioned if Candle Face was real or merely a manifestation of his problems at that time in his life.
Years later, while a US Army soldier stationed in Korea, Arthur found his answers. He investigated the story of the house fire that killed the family, which included a little girl that Arthur believed became Candle Face in his dreams. With the answers at hand, Arthur was inspired to tell his story so others can make their own determination as to whether Candle Face was real or just a psychological outlet during his childhood.
Arthur is a Warrant Officer in the US Army and has lived throughout the world. Arthur and his wife, Yonsun, have two children, Arthur and Allen.
Arthur is currently writing his next book titled, “The Scavenger Hunt”. The reader of this book will decide the direction of the plot. The reader becomes the author!
